Fine continental, Portuguese and English cuisine
The mountain estates of the Almeida Garrett family lie in the highest part of Portugal, the Serra de Estrela. They are descended from a famous literary figure - a kind of Portuguese Samuel Pepys'. The mountain air gives great conditions for the slow ripening of the fruit, giving, in turn, great wine. Our Portada white wine
Portada white, Lisboa region
Fresh, rounded, but lemon fresh- a combination of Chardonnay and Moscatel
Entre Serras red, Beiras, Almeida Garrett
Rich deep colour, packed with fruit and deliciously smooth
The wines of the Dão are arguably the truest of Portugal's 'classic' wines. The recipe is unchanged, but the character is now more modern. Great red fruit character, good acidity giving juiciness, but also enough tannin to make these wines excellent with food. They are elegant rather than powerful. Mid-bodied and just 13% alcohol is the norm. The whites are lemon fresh.
